Educate Together Secondary School, Wicklow Town

Model United Nations

WICKMUN is ETSS Wicklow’s annual Model United Nations conference, bringing together student delegates for structured debate, diplomacy, and collaborative problem-solving.

About WICKMUN

WICKMUN is the annual Model United Nations conference hosted by ETSS Wicklow. Established in 2019, the conference has grown into one of the largest student-led MUN events in Ireland, welcoming delegates from schools across the country each year.

The conference is designed, organised, and delivered by senior students, who take responsibility for developing committee topics, preparing conference materials, and chairing debates. This student-led approach ensures that WICKMUN remains engaging, relevant, and supportive, while also providing invaluable leadership and organisational experience for the students involved.

Delegates at WICKMUN explore global issues through structured debate and formal procedure. Students develop skills in public speaking, negotiation, collaboration, and critical thinking, while gaining a deeper understanding of international relations and global citizenship.

WICKMUN reflects the core values of ETSS Wicklow by placing student voice, respect, and inclusive participation at the centre of the conference experience.

Why Choose WICKMUN?

WICKMUN is an ideal conference for schools that are new to Model United Nations as well as those with established MUN programmes. The conference is carefully structured to ensure that all delegates, regardless of experience, feel supported and confident taking part.

Committees are designed with varying levels of challenge, allowing students to participate in debates that suit their ability and experience. Chairs take an active role in guiding discussion, explaining procedures clearly, and encouraging contributions from all delegates.

The student-led nature of WICKMUN creates a welcoming and approachable atmosphere. Delegates are debating with and being supported by fellow students who understand the challenges of participating in MUN for the first time.

WICKMUN places a strong emphasis on learning, collaboration, and participation rather than competition. Students are encouraged to develop their skills, ask questions, and learn in a positive and respectful environment.

For teachers and advisors, WICKMUN offers a well-organised and supportive experience, with clear communication, structured schedules, and guidance available before and during the conference.
