GEOGRAPHY (TY)

Transition Year Geography is designed as a bridge between the Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate programmes, but it is also an opportunity for students to start studying geography for the first time.

Transition Year offers learners an opportunity to mature and develop without the pressure of an examination. It also provides an opportunity for learners to reflect on, and build an appreciation of the value of learning in preparing them for the ever-changing demands of the adult world of work, further and higher education and relationships.

This year, we have been designing our Transition Year Programme, and one of the key goals is to take advantage of the possibilities offered by local community interests here in Wicklow Town.  The course will involve studying economic (travel and transport), physical (natural hazards), and human processes (cultural and environmental studies).

Assessment will be carried out on an ongoing basis throughout the year and will include assessment of projects and practical work.
