LEAVING CERTIFICATE

FIRST LEAVING CERTIFICATE GROUP WILL START AS FIFTH YEARS IN SEPT. 2023

The Leaving Certificate Programme is a two year course in which students normally choose six to eight subjects from the list of subjects available on the curriculum.

This course provides students with a broad and balanced education while also offering a chance to work towards particular higher education and career options by selecting specialist subjects. In general, students take a minimum of five subjects (usually more - six or seven) for the Leaving Certificate Examination, one of which must be Irish. Subjects are normally studied at either Ordinary or Higher Level. Two subjects, Irish and Mathematics, can be studied at Foundation Level.

Though still to be confirmed, we are working towards having the following subjects available:

            English            French            Spanish         Mathematics
            Irish            Biology            Chemistry                         Physics
           Geography
            History            Business                    Music
Home Economics                        Physical Education                       Art         Accounting

In addition to these subjects, the State Examinations Commission will provide examinations in any recognised language of the European Union, where the status of the applicant/candidate is seen as appropriate.

A lot more information will be added to this section as we get closer to the starting point for the first leaving certificate programme in the school in September 2023.
